Fatherhood Initiative Program

Recognizing the value of a strong support system to a parolee’s success and the importance of fostering improved child-parent relationships, the Board refers parolees to a special 12-week program for interested parolee-fathers who have children under the age of 18. The program teaches parolees how to build better relationships with their children and helps them develop a better understanding of their financial responsibilities and the importance of being a positive role model to their children. Agents make special outreach efforts to connect program participants with community services that focus on better parenting skills. This Board initiative is one part of a statewide Fatherhood Initiative program conducted by several agencies, which is based on a national program.
